Fasting

Fasting

We tend to see food as indispensable, and think without three meals a day we will die. This is far from the truth. It is a program we have picked up on the way. - Paul Blackburn

Some of the benefits of fasting:

  • It's how our bodies are designed, to have periods of feast and famine, to eat irregularly as food was found, harvested or caught. We were never designed to have food available to us 24/7 for a lifetime.
  • You'll have more energy available, because its not being used for digestion.
  • Fasting has been used throughout history to heal, to cleanse, to purify the soul. Animals instinctively fast when unwell.
  • It can increase energy, awareness and intuition.
  • Fasting increases the bodies ability to eliminate toxins.
  • You will lose weight (fat).
  • When fasting, you can sense the body craving essential nutrients, which otherwise would be dulled by a full belly and colon.
Michael Mosley, in his book The Fast Diet, explains that when you sleep, after about 4 hours insulin production stops, and the body goes into repair and recovery mode, until the morning, when you break-fast.

There are many ways to diet, you can research it on the internet, or read the many books on the subject.

Michael Mosley advocates a very easy to follow 'fast'. Twice a week, on non consecutive days, eat only a quarter of your calories for that day. 600 calories for a man, 500 calories for a woman.

Wait as long as you can before you break-fast, then as long as you can again before your next meal. Drink as much water, black/herbal tea or black coffee as you like, to stave off cravings and keep hydrated.

After fasting for a few times, you'll be surprised how easy this becomes, and at the lack of cravings.

You might also be surprised by your energy levels, and your bowels that start working normally again after you have given them a rest.

This diet is easy, its simple, you don't have to buy special foods, attend meetings, get all sweaty. None of that. Just live your normal life, eating less on 2 days per week, knowing that you can eat what you want the next day.

You'll not only lose weight, get healthy, have more energy and live longer, you'll save money in the process.

You might even find that your cravings for crap processed foods (that are high in fat, sugar and carbs) are greatly reduced.

If you have any difficulty with this, a good coach or hypnotherapist can help you find the motivation, and provide craving busters to help you to your health goals easily and effortlessly.
