Quiet Your Monkey Mind

Why is it that what we want and the results we get are often so far apart?

A major reason for this all boils down to one thing...following through on our commitments.

People often start out on a new goal, a new course of study, but you get distracted by the next 'shiney new thing' and do not complete what you started. Like monkeys, most people are unfocused and all over the place.

(in among the junk you will see a rare Honda Gold Monkey I saw in my colleagues' garage)

Your Higher Self must control your Monkey Mind.

Most people can't do that. So what can you do to get the monkey out of your head?

Trust Yourself. When you don’t do what you say you’re going to do, you lose confidence and trust in yourself. Then that cycle repeats itself and becomes a pattern. When someone else doesn’t do what they say they’re going to do, you lose trust in them, yes or yes? Conversely, once you start to do whatever it takes to keep your word, you feel good about yourself. That’s going to spill over into every other part of your life.

Remember the previous posts on overcoming procrastination? We recommended listing 6 things, in order of priority to take you towards your goals. Six simple actions, because “Simple is doable, complicated is interesting.” - T. Harv Eker.

So start with something simple and doable, and then use the power of momentum to continue pushing forward.

To your success,
Trevor Long
